SNEPCO Commences Maintenance work at Bonga

Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) on February 28, 2011 commenced maintenance work at the Bonga Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility.
The FPSO has been shut in to allow for the scheduled statutory inspection and maintenance works. The exercise will involve partial shut-down, as well as a period of complete suspension of production at the facility.
Managing Director of SNEPCo, Chike Onyejekwe said: “We’ve just commenced the exercise and cannot yet be specific on the time frame, but we have taken all measures to ensure that the maintenance is undertaken to specification, safely and on time.”

SNEPCo began operations in April 1993 when it signed a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) with the Nigerian Government and was then awarded two offshore blocks, (OPL 212 and OPL 219) in water depths of between 200 and 1,400 metres. Employing cutting edge technology, SNEPCo made a world-class oil and gas find at its deep offshore Bonga field (OPL 212) in 1995, and commenced production in November 2005.
