LiveWIRE Nigeria has positively contributed to the sustainable development of the Niger Delta Region. To date, the programme has trained 3408 Niger Delta youths in enterprise development and management and has gone further to assist 700 to set up their dream businesses through Business Start-up Awards. These entrepreneurs have created employment opportunities for other youths in the region thereby reducing youth unemployment. Over 1000 jobs have been created through supports provided for the establishment of small self-owned businesses.
To date, the programme has produced two national award winners; two LiveWIRE beneficiaries received the Central Bank of Nigeria Entrepreneurship award. In 2010, another two won international awards, which enabled them to visit England and Dubai for purposes of networking and developing business linkages, on the Go and Trade Award. Still in 2010 an additional 115 youths were trained on how to value and organise themselves, recognizing bright business ideas, developing business plans, being successful in business, HSE in business and evaluating their businesses.
