26/12/2011 Update on SNEPCo response to Bonga oil leak: Journalists to visit area today
Lagos, Nigeria, December 26, 2011 – A group of international and Nigerian journalists will today fly to an area off the coast of Nigeria to see for themselves how the oil that leaked from SNEPCo’s Bonga facility has largely dispersed. This follows an overflight by Nigeria’s Minister for the Environment and the Director General of NOSDRA on Saturday 24 December.

Since our earlier statement (0800hrs, December 21, 2011), we have obtained additional information on the incident at the Bonga offshore facility, 120 km off the Nigeria coast.
21/12/2011 Shell Nigeria temporarily shuts in Bonga field in response to oil leak
Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) can confirm it is responding to an oil leak at the 200,000 barrel-per-day capacity Bonga deepwater facility, approximately 120 kilometres off the Nigeria coast.
01/12/2011 Shell sells stakes in Nigerian oil leases
On November 30, The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC), a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell plc (Shell), completed the assignment of its 30% interest in two oil mining leases and related facilities in the Niger Delta. Total cash proceeds for SPDC amount to some US$488 million.
