Shell Launches Global Nigerian Portal in Aberdeen

Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCiN) launched an online interactive web portal www.globalnigeriaforum.com during the 2nd edition of ‘The Global Nigerian’ conference held in Aberdeen, Scotland in October 2014.

The portal was developed to promote business partnerships between Nigerian experts in the Diaspora and indigenous Nigerian oil and gas services providers. Practitioners in the industry will be able to share best practices  via the portal.

“Shell Companies in Nigeria will continue to grow the capacity of Nigerian companies that provide goods and services in the oil and gas industry. I am hopeful that today’s event will mark the beginning of a collaborative knowledge sharing network that will help Nigerian companies here to access technical knowledge and unleash a new level of competency for the Nigerian oil and gas sector,” Tony Attah, MD, Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Company (SNEPCo) told about 200 participants.

Shell Companies in Nigeria committed to launch the portal during the ‘The Global Nigerian’ event in 2013.

Engineer Ernest Nwapa, Executive Secretary of Nigerian Content Monitoring Development Board (NCMDB), commended SCiN for promoting local content.

“Shell in the past had about 30% of contracts awarded to Nigerian companies but today delivers about 90% in terms of numbers and is actually doing more than 40% in real value in terms of actual execution in-country. This is a huge improvement from how things were done in the past,” Nwapa said.
