SPDC Declares Force Majeure on Bonny Lifting Following Incidents on Trans Niger Pipeline

SPDC declared Force Majeure on Bonny Light lifting for May and June 2010, effective 1200hrs today, May 7.

This is as a result of production deferment from the leaks and fire incidents which occurred on the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) on May 5, 2010. Several incidents were detected on the sections of the pipeline at Bodo West and Bera.

Preliminary investigations indicate that they were caused by crude theft activities. The TNP was shut down on May 5 in support of repair efforts.

SPDC is working hard to repair and return the line to production as soon as possible. SPDC suspended production in Ogoni land since 1993.  However, some of our facilities, such as the TNP pass through the area.
